I performed improvised movement with inspiration from Tai Chi and sea animal like expressions. Where I use the my whole body and balance to make strange expressive movement, moving around the a mirror hallway and sometimes engaging with the presence of the audience as a creature. The audience is peeking through little holes on 2 sides of the hall, where little lights reflect on the reflective dots which are glued om my skin. From an audience perspective, you only see the dots moving, and my body fades away in darkness.
The work
Life derives through an intricate series of events; it is the result of complex rearrangements and exchanges of matter and energy. This composition, this dance between materials and their states, has been ongoing since the known creation of our universe. There is a deep shared connection between the cosmos and life itself. We are comprised of ancient stardust. Its has taken longer than we have the ability to comprehend for this arrangement of material to result in our being. Through this performance, this connection is mirrored on a timescale we can comprehend. Is what you see constellation? Is it bioluminescence?
Performance art where Giulia Favero and I direct each other’s breath. If Giulia holds my breath by blocking my nose, I will direct her breath with my hand. I decide for her when to breathe in and out on an irregular rhythm and tempo. If i can’t hold my breath anymore, I will block Giulia’s nose, and she will direct my breath. We continue until we start shaking.
Our heartbeat and breath are miced. So the audience has an intimate bodily sound experience, and perceives our bodily reaction on our irregularity of breath.
